I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) currently practicing in Denver, Colorado. I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from San Francisco Art Institute and a Masters of Arts in Counseling Psychology (concentration in Somatic Psychology) from California Institute of Integral Studies. ** Please note that I am currently working with clients online due to the pandemic. Relationships can be a beautiful and powerful healing force. Being in a healthy relationship with another has the potential to positively rewire our brains. It has been proven that we can heal more effectively by being in relationship with another, rather than going through the process alone. Studies have also found that the process of relating is more important than the content of relating. So what happens when we suddenly are unable to connect the way we used to, or if we weren’t able to connect in the first place?

And what happens when we are feeling stuck in unhealthy and repetitive cycles and patterns? This causes stress. We experience stress in our bodies through sensations, feelings, and emotions. When we have repeated or long term exposure to stress, our body remains activated in survival mode. This can have a negative impact on our endocrine and nervous system. When our system is overloaded with adrenaline and cortisol, our body becomes more rigid and tight. Our shoulders slump and our head hangs low. We lack the ability to move freely with full expression.

Research shows that chronic stress contributes to physical illness and dis-ease in the body. Research also shows that with body-mind psychotherapy, we have the ability to tap into our own healing mechanisms through body-oriented (somatic) practices. When we are able to establish a connection to the present moment, we are able to let go of the false narrative that is deeply embedded in our soma and psyche. We are able to release the rigidity and create more internal movement. Cultivating somatic awareness can help us become more aware of our own triggers, reduce anxiety and create ease in our every day lives.

As a body-centered (Somatic) and EMDR therapist, I work holistically, intuitively, and relationally to help you access your own innate ability to heal. Together, we will work on gaining a deeper understanding of what drives you and what is holding you back. We will help you utilize and build resources to create a deeper awareness of your self in relationships. There is nobody that has the exact same experience as you do, which is the beauty of being unique and diverse. My goal is to create a safe and non-judgmental therapeutic space for you to explore the challenges you face. I welcome and appreciate diversity in my practice.

To truly know our authentic self, we must first cultivate Awareness. When we cultivate a deeper awareness within ourselves, our heart leads the way instead of cycling through toxic patterns of doubt and fear. We also decrease stress and anxiety through this process of mindfulness.

Through cultivating awareness, we develop Understanding. Developing a deeper understanding of yourself can make it easier to meet your needs, goals, and desires. When we understand how our nervous system responds to stress and our own personal homeostasis, we can better manage our lives.

Once we develop understanding, we can take Accountability for our actions. Taking accountability for our actions is a really important part of the healing process. We are more effective in our lives when we are able to hold ourselves accountable. This also allows you to be fully engaged with your process of healing.

With this deeper understanding and awareness of self, Consciousness arises. Consciousness is putting awareness, understanding, and accountability into action and creating positive change in your life.

Growth creates change. Change creates growth. With growth, there is a deeper ability to intuitively listen to what your body needs. We can listen on a deeper level to our nervous system to better understand how we operate as a whole person. There is a sense of achievement and feeling of peace when we can truly embody growth.

All specific areas and therapy tools I’ve been trained in, have connections to attachment theory. Fundamentally, I approach therapy from an attachment perspective.

The Oxford English Dictionary defines Trauma as, “Emotional shock following a stressful event or a physical injury, which may lead to long-term neurosis” Or “A deeply distressing or disturbing experience.”

Sensorimotor processing refers to the process by which sensory information, the things we experience through our five senses, is coupled with or integrated into responses in our central nervous system.

In the AIR Protocol we combine three powerful modalities: Traditional Psychotherapy, Mindfulness Meditation, and EMDR (Eye Movement De-Sensitization and Re-Processing).

Having recovered from infant encephalitis and a terminal childhood cancer diagnosis, Seth learned at a very early age to access, accept and thrive with intense negative emotions. With resultant severe dyslexia, Seth was told by special ed. teachers he should not aspire to higher education. He has since attained 2 Master’s degrees and has a successful psychotherapy practice in Denver. He loves to teach people how to transform intense negative emotional states from stress to ease and confidence.

When we quiet our mind and deeply listen, emotions connect us to our intuition and aliveness.

But sometimes our emotions, and emotional memories of life experiences, get stuck in both our minds and our bodies, and we are not able to move through or fully process them.

We can heal and reconnect to ourselves, to others, to our aliveness and to the world around us through breath, movement, and mindful awareness.
