Commons Park can be found on the banks of the South Platte River in a spot that just happens to be the city's birthplace. It's a pleasing mix of natural and urban influences: Close to 40 percent of the park is covered by native plants, a piece of reconstructed lush "sand prairie" reminiscent of what would have existed in the area originally. The Westlands playground includes three play areas sized for toddlers to teens. There are two large climbing structures which satisfy both the technical climber as well as the inexperienced child. In addition to the main play area, there are two multi-use playing fields, musical instruments, an interactive water feature (open from Memorial Day to Labor Day), a pond and a hike/bike trail. There are also two pickleball courts and a basketball court in the southwest corner of the park.


The Center Pavilion provides seating for 84 people and can accommodate up to 150 in the immediate area. This shelter has restrooms with running water, electrical outlets and four charcoal grills. The interactive water feature to the south of the Center Pavilion is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

4worldlovers: Water Park is FREE with Theme Park admission from Saturday of Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Two parks, for one admission price, with unlimited rides for everyone in the family. Elitch Gardens is Colorado’s must-see destination.

Proper swimwear is required for all Water Park attractions. No thong or g-string type swimwear is allowed. Denim and swimwear with zippers, buckles, or rivets are not permitted on Water Park attractions. Complimentary life jackets are available at Raft Rentals on a first-come, first-serve basis. Weak swimmers are encouraged to wear a life jacket. All flotation devices must be stamped and approved by the US Coast Guard.
